Fencing Rules

All our young fencers are taught rules to keep them safe.  These include, but are not limited to:

1.            Keep your mask on ALL THE TIME when you are fencing or practising.
2.            Never wave your sword around.
3.            Always keep the point down when other people have their masks off.
4.            Always put your sword down when you are taking your mask on or off.
5.            Don’t bend your sword on the ground.
6.            Don’t touch the blade with your bare hand – it might have splinters and cut you.
7.            Never walk between two people who are fencing.
8.            Don’t go from side to side while you are fencing.
9.            Don’t turn around while you are fencing.
10.         Always wear the right equipment and have your legs covered.
11.         Wear shoes, not boots or sandals.
12.         If you hurt someone when you hit them, STOP, and tell your coach  what has happened.
Please note that parents who are spectating must never intervene with fencers during the session or enter the fencing area without checking with the coaches first.
