Our Junior Programme corresponds to the Training to Train stage of the LTAD model and runs from around 9 or 10 years old until the child's 13th birthday when they transfer to our cadet programme.
At this stage, children begin to work in a more formal manner on the technical side of fencing, although they are all encouraged to move at their own pace and make choices about their training. They begin to fence using the electrical scoring equipment and learn the rules of competitive fencing.
All Juniors are encouraged to participate in our club competitions. Juniors who wish to compete on the wider stage are invited to join our Junior Squad and engage in more serious training with a view to competing on the national circuit and participating in the England and British Youth Championships and, where possible, seeking selection for the England Fencing international youth teams..
