Equipment

We have plenty of good quality fencing equipment to borrow at any session for no extra charge.

The only exception is if you wish to start with sabre or epee instead of foil.  In that case you will need to buy yourself a pair of breeches and your own weapon as these are not supplied.

At some point, most people prefer to start purchasing their own equipment and the coaches can advise you on this.  We supply Leon Paul equipment upon request, or you can choose your own supplier.  If you are the parent of a child fencer,  have a chat with the parents of older fencers -- many of them have outgrown equipment they may be willing to sell. 

All equipment must satisfy the following minimum requirements in order to be used at any Four of Clubs session:

Jackets -- must be marked either CE 350N or FIE 800N
Underplastron - must be FIE 800N
Masks - must be minimum CE 350N

Breeches must be worn for fencing epee, sabre or electric foil

Please remember that when you come into Fenton Manor, you are coming through a public building where lots of children may be running around.  Please, therefore, keep any weapons in a suitable bag or cover until you are in the fencing area.
